Just look at it!

That is the best paint I have EVER seen on anything. Better than any blue you’ll find anywhere, even beats WR Blue Pearl. There is no denying this matte blue makes the Veloster’s curves pop.

I know it’s all show and no substance but my goodness, when the show is this good, who cares about substance!?

The interior continues the theme with an amazing combination of blue and leather.

Kinja'd!!!

Plus it isn’t completely without substance. The Rally Edition comes with an aggressive sport tuned suspension, aftermarket lightweight Rays wheels and a B&M short shifter. It is also probably the lightest Veloster since it is based off the stripped down edition.

I have always loved that 3rd stealth door. Genius, that is. A stylish coupe door for the driver, and comfort for the friends.

The Veloster is an old model on its way out so I don’t expect it to compete with the newest hot hatches in performance, but what a way to go.

1. I’m pretty sure the Hyundai has been around longer.

2. The Hyundai has a Matte paint color.

Is that matte paint, or a matte vinyl wrap?

Not to say that the vinyl is inferior, actually I have heard that matte paint jobs are difficult to maintain, and even more difficult to repair.

matte or brushed-finish vinyl wraps are certainly at least easier to repair by peeling off and re-applying.

The Ford show car blue really is the hottest blue out there right now.

But this is matte. Matte is cool. I look forward to a day when it is easy to maintain and widely available. Shiny cars are silly in many environments.

Just looked it up the Rally edition comes in 2016. same year as the Focus RS.

Also it’s still the same color regardless if matte or not.

Shiny cars are hard for sure. but sometimes they are the best for all environments...maybe not snow....nothing is good in snow...maybe matte white or black.

It is paint. And if I owned that car, I’d keep it under a cover. Hard to maintain, but is it worth it? Could be.

I’m meant it was shown before the Fords. If not, it was around the same time.

The Ford isn’t even matte. It looks good in its own right. It’s more of a pure matte blue while the Ford is a shinier metallic lighter blue. Why is it that you assume something is stolen?

Keep a cover on it while it is parked... but what about being driven on the road, or parked in a parking lot?

Cars lead hard lives if they are regularly used, and Veloster isn’t exactly garage queen material otherwise. ‘I am pretty sure that is not a Lambo, dude.’

Yeah but I am one of those people that like to keep shit looking nice. It is just a Veloster, but it doesn’t matter what value the car has to others because to me, it has its own value. And in some ways, that car is one of a kind. It is limited to 1,000 and the paint is exclusive. You will never see another car with that paint. I reckon on the road, it would catch as many gazes as a Lambo.

That is why the people who love their cars like to park in the corner far away. And really get pissed when some douche goes and parks next to them for shits and giggles.

No problem with people wanting to keep up their cars, or whatever. that is admirable.

But there are rocks and debris kicked up from trucks and cars and all sorts of things.

It is a very striking color blue, and blue is one of my favorite colors.

I have heard reports that other cars with matte or so-called “frozen” paint jobs are tough to keep, cannot be waxed, and paint flaws cannot be touched up seamlessly, or the matte finish blended with a partial re-spray... the whole car must be re-sprayed to get the matte finish and the color hue consistent... and it requires a skilled painter acquainted with matte finishing.

I can see why a vinyl wrap would be a preferable every-day alternative for a matte finish effect on a daily driven car.

However, I cannot get past the Veloster itself. I am not a fan of FWD cars to begin with, due to the physics of weight transfer under acceleration and deceleration.

I like the idea of a 3-door + hatchback car, I really do. I wish someone would build something more akin to Mazda Kabura, or Pininfarina Cambiano, that use similar interior and door layouts. Hyundai Veloster is aesthetically much less attractive a form, regardless of paint color. The overly truncated length, and odd lines... and that gaping maw on the front... it just is not an attractive form, despite the potential of a 3+1 door format.

I know what you mean, the maintenance is impossible. It is my wishful thinking to keep a matte paint job flawless. But I would do my best to enjoy the beauty of it a bit longer if possible.

And trust me, I know all about the idiocy of FWD . It just isn’t available in a RWD car. If given the choice between this Veloster or the WR Blue BRZ, I’d choose the BRZ because of the car, but I would still wish the BRZ came in this paint.

...howw long do these wraps last? And can they be cleaned/washed and stay on?

They are resilient, and usually hold their color well for several years, and can be washed and cleaned, as far as I understand.
